Border Collie / Mixed Dog

Williams the Dog needs a home

Hi!  I’m Williams!  At least that is the name I have now.  I can’t remember the name I started out with before I went to the shelter. Some people think I was supposed to be called ‘William’ and the ’s’ was a mistake, but I kind of like it!  It sounds regal, kind of like me!

The first thing you should know about me is I’m still learning how to be a dog! Until last month, I had been in a kennel most of my life.  I never knew what it was to live in a real house and be part of a family, but now that I’ve experienced it, I feel like I’ve won the dog-lottery!  A family of my very own is my dream!  I would personally prefer a family without one of those awful monstrous vacuum cleaners, but I’m a survivor, so I guess I could just continue to hide when it comes out.

My foster family has taught me how to master the very scary stairs which are really a lot of fun now! They have also taught me that a crate is actually a safe place and how to sit, go to my bed and lay down!  We are working on “stay” but I really like to just be close to my people!

I love, love, love chew bones, stuffed toys, Benebones and balls!  I learned to fetch and retrieve and drop this week!  Oh what fun!!! Toys are the best. My very favorite thing is when I get to go to the doggy toy basket and pick out the ones that I want to play with!  I also would really love having a fur sibling!  Especially one about my size! I also really like to snuggle with my family on the sofa at night when they are watching TV. Sometimes I even watch myself! My foster family says having a fur sibling, like Pepper, who lives here, really gives me confidence! ButI just love having another doggie to play with and help me learn all the ropes!

It took me a little while to learn human-speak, but I'm getting pretty good at it now!  I know, ‘wanna go for a walk’, ‘treat’ ‘go for a ride in the car’ and my absolute favorite words ‘good boy’!  That makes me feel very special and loved, which is really just the BEST!

I’ve heard the humans describe me as a bit ‘nervous’  sometimes, but it is only because of all these experiences in my past and now a lot of new things that are just so new to me.  But, I’m learning very quickly that the world is a big and exciting place and that most humans are nice and don’t yell at me or hurt me!  My foster mama says that if someone will just open up their heart to take a chance on me, show me patience and kindness and continue to teach me new thing, I’m going to be the World’s
Greatest Dog!  I kind of agree with her!
